LOA 35’, beam 10’2”, draft 3’4”

CONSTRUCTION

The Talisman is a 35’ Down East Picnic Boat designed by Carroll Lowell and built by John’s Bay Boat Company in 1996. The Talisman was designed by the late Carroll Lowell by modifying a classic Will Frost design. She is long, lean, and graceful from any quarter.

The Talisman is planked with Maine cedar with white oak frames and keel. All fastenings are bronze. Decks and cabin trunk are marine plywood sheathed with epoxy fiberglass and finished with Awlgrip. There is a teak overlay on the aft portions of the side decks, the exterior decks are solid teak, and the interior cabin sole is teak and holly.

Her windshield and side windows are varnished mahogany, as is the interior and exterior joiner work.

MECHANICAL

The Talisman is powered by a Marine Power 454GM gas engine with a Borg Warner 2-1 gear. Fuel capacity is 80 gallons. Fresh water capacity is 40 gallons.

ELECTRICAL

The Talisman’s electrical system includes three group 24 batteries, shore power, and a Xantrex 1800 watt inverter. Electrical features include a Garmin radar plotter/sounder combination, an Autohelm automatic pilot, ICOM VHF, and a stereo.

ACCOMMODATIONS

The Talisman features a galley area down forward, a head to starboard, and V-berths forward. The space aft of the main bulkhead is where she’s truly exceptional: there are two pedestal seats forward and a handsome bench midship. This seat area can be sheltered by a canvas cover. In the stern, there is a magnificent U-shaped seating area that surrounds a mahogany drop-leaf table. There is an umbrella that fits through the drop-leaf table to provide shade if desired.

If you appreciate a picnic boat with distinction, offering the style and grace of a bygone era, the talisman is for you.
